Bookbinding started to defy me in 1990 when I took a class of bookbinding 1:1 in our village. After the first try I wanted to learn more and I took classes with the best bookbinders of The Netherlands and each time I am in Chicago I am allowed to study in the library in the Center of Book and Paper Art of the Columbia College.
When I filled in an open space at a market where they demonstrated ‘old’ professions in 1995 a lady asked whether I could make her a dolls house book, bookbinding in miniature started.
Since then I have been interested in 1:12 bookbinding and I exhibited and taught workshops in The Netherlands, United States, Germany, England and Sweden.
I try to work with exclusive materials like ultra thin leather and the text and illustrations in my books are all off set printed.

The most challenging books in my collection are my pop-up books. I try to publish a new one every two years.
Some of them is shown on the Toy and Miniature Museum of Kansas City.
With my pop-up book “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens I won the Best miniaturist 2004 trophie and is called one of the 50 top pieces of the Meermanno Museum in The Hague in the Netherlands.
